Easier way get Gecko food?

I was planning on getting a Leopard Gecko and I had everything sorted out until I realized what they eat. Apparently they eat crickets or mealworms. The guy at the store said they eat about 6~10 crickets a day. The problem is how would I get the Geckos food? I cant go to the store everyday to buy some because its a far drive. Any ideas on what I could possibly do to get the crickets? Thanks

I have a Critter Keeper! You can buy quite a few at a time (most places charge $1 for 12 crickets, so you can stock up on a fair bunch at a time) and store them live in the CK. Make sure you ask for an egg carton from the store so the crickets have a place to walk and sleep. I feed mine potato and carrot slices and occasionally put in a damp bit of paper towel for them to lick water off.

You can keep them alive for around 2 weeks at a time, but if you give them enough space and food you can breed your own colony and won't need to go buy more again

Mealworms come in little plastic cups with oats/similar substrate which they will sleep in and eat. You keep them refrigerated until your ready to feed your gecko. I recommend taking the container out around 30 minutes before you feed so they warm up and get wigglin' again, which attracts your geckos.

You can put your mealworms in a bigger container, like a Tupperware container with small (VERY SMALL!) holes poked in the lid if you'd like to add a potato slice now and then. Don't refrigerate the mealworms with the veggies tho! Be sure to take it out so it doesn't cause the substrate to get moldy. Mealworms kept properly can last up to 6 months!
