So Cal.
Hey guys, I did a search and didnt find a direct link so thought I would just post and ask.

It seems that one of my Leo's is eating the sphagnum moss that is in her humid hide. My question is, how bad is this for her? Can it/Will it cause impaction? is she looking for some vitamin or something that she is not getting? Any info would be great!

I would take it out for now and put in some paper towel (take a few sheets and fold it over and get it wet). I don't know how bad the moss is for her, but my guess is it is not good. Any eaten can cause impaction and death. Better safe than sorry. Many people (myself included) use paper towels as moist hide substrate. It stays wet for about 5 days at which point you could re-wet it but I usually remove it and replace it because it can build up germs/bacteria.

I don't know about vitamins - it could just be her wanting to eat it, but you should have a little dish with calcium in it in the tank.

Have fun and good luck!
