Eating Problem

Hello all...been awhile since Ive logged on and I am glad to report that a few hiccups aside, my leopard gecko is doing great. Having said that i have noticed that when my gecko grabs a mealwork or waxworm, he has a hard time keeping it in his mouth. It takes him a few tries to get a good grip on the meal and eat it. Is this normal? I do not recall this happening before...just over the last several months.
He eventually gets it so Im not worried but just seems odd.
When he grabs it in his mouth, and it falls out, I can see his tongue sticking out...like he pushes it out.
Any thoughts?
And thanks. This forum has always been my go to for info.

Thanks for the link. I have not noticed his mouth and I do not think it is mouthrot but I will take a closer look this evening.
The day after I had posted, I took him in to the vet to have a plug removed and to have a general check up. Doc says he was good all around but I will check regardless. Would hate for the guy to be miserable just because we missed something.
Thanks again.
