Has anyone here ever used them?

I've been looking at used cars all week and still haven't found the right one. We've been driving all over and now my husband is back to work with our only car. I have no problem getting a car shipped, but I've never purchased a car without test driving it.

im pretty iffy on it...

i would prefer seeing the car first

people might not lie... but they might not tell you everything...

and you dont want to commit to buy something you dont want...

i recommend craigslist.. i get GREAT deals all the time...

also autotrader.com is good..

most people will take a lot less than they are asking..

if you would like me to check out an ad.. or if you have any questions about certain cars let me know..

im 25 but i have owned almost 50 cars.. now..

We've been using craigslist. I just thought it would be nice to have more options.

on ebay you can search with in so many miles and go see the car before you bid or make a bid..

That's the problem. I don't have a car now to go look. I'm not sure when my husband will be off again. Plus, I wanted to look further away.

I'm super picky and I know pretty much what I want. I've found some to look at that are a few hours away. All the rest would have to be purchased and shipped.:(

Someone actually tried to scam us on craigslist yesterday. We drove out to Racine, WI because there were 5 cars we wanted to look at out there. This person was in Madison. I knew her price was way too good. She wouldn't call and said that the car was in another state.:main_angry: Then she copied an ebay scam e-mail almost word for word. Another one we went to look at was different that listed and pictured. We tried another and something went wrong when the guy was driving it and had to take it into a shop. The others never called us back.

I thought it would be fun to shop for a sports car, but it's way more stressful than buying an everyday car.:(

Definitely see them in person and DRIVE THEM. Dont go up and down the drive way but get on a highway or open road and let it loose. See how the car feels at high speeds. I'm a sports car person and will tell you anyone who owns one will drive it like they stole it and stuff usually breaks. After you drive it pop the hood and look around. We may not be mechanics but any fool can see oil leaking all over the place or pipes with cracks in them. Ask for every receipt they have on the car and a car fax. I personally change my oil myself so it wont show on the carfax but I have receipts for each time I purchased oil. Sports cars require more frequent oil changes than normal cars so I want to make sure it was maintained properly.
Good luck with your hunt!

Thank you both for your help. I was able to find a car I liked about 70 miles south of here. :)
