Egg denting GEO's in Hovabator

We were supposed to have 4 eggs hatch this week but all 4 were dented and starting to soften and even mold a little. Knowing that they should be close to fully developed we opened one and found an underdeveloped embryo not even close to hatching. Any ideas on what could have caused all 4 of these to go bad?? Just a stroke of bad luck?? They were all incubated at 82 degrees for 23 days then moved to 88 degrees, the incubators are monitored digitally and don't exceed a 1.2 degree variance from the 88 degrees. We have already hatched 10 leos and 8 AFT's this season using the same methods however I am concerned because there are some eggs due to hatch next week and I see a couple dents froming again. Thanks in advance!!

sounds like the embryos just died. This same scenario happen to me a year ago. Next time I would raise the temps slowly maybe 2.5 degrees a week or so. (not saying this is the cause...) for denting eggs try adding more water to the GEO's egg container.

Thanks. The GEO's show plenty of condensation on the sides underneath the suspended eggs so I believe there's plenty of water in there. BTW, love the name JT Geckos. My name is J.T. also :main_thumbsup:

Thanks it's my intials.

Sometimes when eggs are about to hatch they dent, keep that in mind. As long as they arnt folding in half (extreme denting) they should be okay..

One trick I do that has worked 100% is if eggs are starting to dent early like with in 1 -2 weeks of being laid, I usually have pre made deli cup filled with vermiculite 1:1 water ratio and I put the dented eggs in there and almost bury them. What I mean by almost is you just barely see the top of the egg. I'll leave them in there for like 10 days. This has been super succesful in getting those dents to puff back to normal then in which I then either stick them back in the GEO or just leave them in there depending on how much space I have at the time :main_laugh:
