Hi, I was wondering what humidity levels people are using for Superhatch material in 16 oz cups. Also how many air holes you have on your cup.
Thanks for the help!
I don't know what others do, but since growing orchids for many years and using a similar material as potting medium, I can tell by looking if there is too little moisture. Unscientific explanation, but its my experience. Most of the time I use pre-punched deli cups, occasionally more water is needed and is put in against the cup sides, never touching the eggs. For solid cups, I put 4 air holes in the top. Some folks don't use any air holes at all and do well. Those need to be opened I think once a week for air exchange.
When you mean 1:1 ratio just add water over the superhatch and let it drip out extra moisture or measure out 1 cup superhatch to 1 cup water or something?
weigh out your superhatch in the container. then slowly add water until the weight is doubled. that will give you a 1:1 ratio. i don't have holes in my containers, but i do vent them about once a week for air exchange. only mold i get is from bad eggs so far.
