Egg incubation

OK so I have a situation here. I have couple of females that are about to pop any day now and no incubator  ....yeah I know, but we just haven't gotten one yet.

My question is has anyone ever incubated their eggs within their geckos enclosure? I'm thinking that I could put the eggs in a deli cup with a secure lid(so the adults don't knock it over) and just put it under the heat source...which is about 84-88.

I had to do the same thing, but I put it in an empty space in my rack. But I only did it for a week since I was on vacation and my incubator was back home. When I got home I put them in the incubator 4 out of 6 eggs hatched. But there is probably some one else with a lot more experience than me that can help
This are some web pages that may help you make one until you can get one.
http://www.herpcam.com/incubator.htm
http://www.albinogeckos.com/htm/info_other.htm ( in this page they used a cooler and place some water in the bottom to be heated up with a fish tank heater. The eggs were place in containers on a rack.)

Hope this helpes you, good luck.

I woudl n ot try to incubate them in teh cage unless it was an emergency, you can buld an incubator pretty cheap.

Get a styro cooler (free at most pet shops)
get a piece of heat tape and wire it up
Get a dimmer or thermostat to control temps
your done

I can even send you a scrap piece of heat tape for just the shipping, probably $2-3 and you would just need to wire it up.

Thanks for information and the offer. This sounds like something I'm going to go ahead and make. I do have a small section of heat tape 12" or so, just need to wire it up. I'll go ahead and ask the same question as the post above me. Would you put the heat tape on the top or bottom or does it matter.

As long as the temperature in the incubation medium is properly regulated it doesn't matter where you place the heat tape. Personally, I would put it on the bottom as the heat will rise and be more efficient than placing it on the top.
