the other night i happened upon a papertowel laid egg!
it was still slimey on its bottom so i hustled it into the incubator. heres what it looked like moments after putting it in
the second image is the same egg the VERY next evening.
so..what do you all think...the egg gonna make it??
Not sure about the denting, but I'll say this... I candled a bullseye in every good egg from the first day they were laid this last season. I used a high-power LED penlight and the red "cheerio" was perfectly visible.
I had a pair that were laid on a paper towel and looked more dried out than that. I was about to throw them away a week later as they still looked dented but decided to candle them before doing so. Low and behold they were fertile and I have two happy healthy (and gorgeous!!!) babies now! Moral of the story: incubate until you're sure they're infertile or non-viable!
I also thought the substrate looked a bit damp. I would use a 1:0.8 ratio of water to DRY substrate by weight. I use perlite and when moistened to this ratio it looks pretty dry but clumps together and sticks to your fingers in an annoying way...haha.
no, its not too damp. thats just from the low light and the suran wrap i have over the tub. it makes it look wetter than it actualy is. ive been maticulous with the vermiculite
nevermind you guys...i checked it today, it had a soggy half. and when i opened the suranwrapping i got a stench of rotten egg. its bad, i threw it out 8c
