Egg Laying Question

I adopted a 10 year old female leo from a friend of mine, and she apparently lays eggs every spring intermittently for about three months. She just laid some this morning, being her second batch in my home, and I'm wondering why she might be doing this?

She hasn't been exposed to a male since she first hatched, so I'm not even sure why she's laying eggs at all, don't they usually reabsorb if they're not fertilized?

And is there a way I can... help her not lay them? It just seems like such a huge waste of energy for her, and she's a rather little gecko. I worry. <3

Thanks!

They can lay infertile eggs even when not mated with a male. Not really much you can do to stop her from doing that, if she can't reabsorb those eggs, she's gonna lay them. Otherwise she'll get egg-bound and die. So make sure she has a laybox with a suitable substrate, such as coco fiber (eco earth). That way she can dig and lay if she needs to.
