Egg spilling itself

I am incubating my first eggs, from my female second clutch.

I just notice today that one of the egg was letting yolk out.

I throwed that egg away.

What could be the reason ?

I've noticed if the eggs are not all that freshly found this could happen too. If the shell dries too much and then is rehydrated it gets a fine crack that will start to leak. Now this doesn't always happen.

It sounds like the egg was not calcified, add more calcium to the females diet. Do you have a dish for her to lick and add it on all foods with D3 from time to time?

Yes I do. But I admit, it will be more regular and easy now that are fed only mealies.

use a separate lid for clacium too, a gatoraid lid works well and they will lick it when needed to get the extra they need. if its only in the mealie dish they may not lick from it with mealies in it.
