I know that the leo can drown if the egg is messed with but can the leo just stop developing if not messed with? I ask because my dh was wanting to see how candling worked on the new eggs just laid, so I showed him, but then he wanted to see on some others too. I didn't even pick the eggs up, just put the penlight to shine from the top. These eggs are over a month old and don't look full. There are viens and a small dark spot on the lower quarter of the egg, but I recall last season an egg being pretty much full with the baby leo-you could see the bands/stripes etc on it even. Could something have happened? These were the ones I though looked too dry in my other post. The temp is set at 83.

The embryo can die during development, but usually if that happened the egg will start collapsing and get moldy. If you are incubating at 83 degrees, the embryo should be at around half-way developed. I have had eggs that don't look like there is anything in them when I candle them, but a healthy little hatchling emerged!

what's morph are the parents?

The reason I ask is when candling and albino's egg sometimes all you see is pink and no pattern or a shape to the embryo inside.

They still look like giant stale marshmellows :) -no mold, dents, anything. The parents are a bell male and a stripe het bell female. I never thought about the light pigment.
