Eggs w/o mating?

Hello All,
A friend of ours recently was given an adult female cornsnake. Our friend called us this morning to let us know that this snake has just layed an egg.

I would like to know if it's possible for a corn to store sperm, or are snakes like chickens and lay infertile eggs on a regular basis.

both; they can store sperm plus lay eggs without a male present & they will be infertile.

did it just lay one egg? because that would be very unusual for a corn snake to just lay one egg.

Are they sure it's not urates?
