Enigma Help

Hey Guys,

So I recently got a leopard gecko that was sold to me as an enigma (pure), however upon receiving the animal, I noticed that he had SOLID black eyes, my first thoughts were that it was a BEE (Enigma Eclipse), so I messaged the person who sold it to me and unfortunately they are a "satellite" type of business (where he bought the animal from another breeder), and he told me that the breeder said there is no eclipse or any other gene in it with no hets. From what I have been reading the company I have bought this guy from is pretty reputable, but I have never seen any black eyed enigmas that weren't eclipses or super snows. Is it possible for a "pure" enigma to have all black eyes with no other genetic traits?

Thanks

I would never say never (meaning it is definitely within the realm of possibility) but I would think its highly unlikely. Eclipse animals tend to have other markers like a white nose and white feet but the enigma gene seems to make everything super wacky so these could be obscured. Enigma eyes (without eclipse) are usually normal with an orange tinge to them but something strange could be going on. Pictures would definitely help make a guess at the morph more educated. Without pictures comments are all going to be stabs into the dark. My thought would be that test breeding would be your best bet, no matter what anyone's opinions are. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I am not around my animals right now. I will post pics as soon as I can, but the animal itself looks like a normal enigma, other than the all black eyes.

Thanks,
