Personally I would get a male. As you can select several females to put him with. But, then if you find the right female maybe you have a male for the her already.

With a male you're able to create more enigma juveniles, so I would go for a male (if you're not going for a pair or a trio).

Get a 50/50 temp sexed (85 degrees) juvenile and by the time it's sexable you'll have your mind made up for you... :main_thumbsup:

I vote male. Not simply because of putting him with multiple females, say for instance you get a female. Put her with a proven male. She Could lay all dud eggs. Then what do you have? A river, a boat...but no paddle :) Good luck.

I agree, get a male. I wish I had a male. When I got my female from Kelly, only females were being sold. Unfortunately, she took forever to get to size. On top of that, she only lays one egg at a time. If that wasn't bad enough, I just got my first good egg from her because she usually lays them in her water. :(

I re-read my message and didn't like how I came off. I should not have mentioned Kelly. I don't want people to read this message and take it wrong. My enigma only laying one egg, etc has NOTHING to do with Kelly. If I could edit my message I would.

On the other hand, you should be glad you don't have a male. There are so many people that breed with enigmas these days, that you shouldn't be breeding them that much. The prices here in Holland are getting lower as we speak, because the cheap Dutchmen don't want to pay the money they're worth! If everyone starts to breed with an enigma male, the same could happen in the US....so for the greater good: BE VERY GLAD! ;)

A male brings you more possebilities but if you don´t have place and already have males which you don´t want to sale you could choose a female, too.
For example, I have a Raptor male so if I wanted an Enigma het Raptor I would take a female as I love my male ^^

Also, more and more people are starting to think twice about enigmas due to the disorders some of them have. I'm even hesitating whether to breed or not to breed the healthy ones. At this point, I'm glad both of my temp sexed males turned out to be females (oh, my good luck). I'll either produce very few enigmas or not produce any. I'm more confortable with that idea than the idea of producing a bunch of them.

Let's say a male would be good for you (more possibilities, more production) and a female good for the gecko world in general (less market saturation, less geckos with disorders). Another point is that females are usually cheaper.

Anyway, when you finally get your gecko you are going to like him/her the same and aren't going to care about the gender!

I think you should decide if you have a male who needs an enigma or female who needs an enigma and fill the hole in your collection. I would rather make a few quality animals myself than a bucket of mediocre ones:main_thumbsup:

I, personally, think that is pretty much a good "rule of thumb" with any morph Paul..... with the possible exception of trying to connect on some het or double het stuff ....but well put.
