I bought Ernie a larger enclosure yesterday and this time I used a very fine sand for the bottom, he has been in a smaller enclosure with carpet bottom.....problem, he now will not eat anything, for two days now, he does check out his new home and digs in the sand but doesn't seem to feel comfortable or safe in it.......is this common for them to not eat when placed in a new enclosure?.....and how long before he will start to eat again?

Im a total newb at this so take what I say with a grain of salt. The breeder I purchased my leo from told me that it can take weeks before the gecko starts to eat when put into a new home. Maybe your gecko is still stressed from the change in environment. Hopefully this was helpful.

I also think that Bernie is just settling in, as long as you know that everything else is correct (like temps, etc.). It definitely takes some animals longer than others but a week is a normal adjustment period for a vastly different change in surroundings. I'm sure that in another couple days he'll settle into a new routine in his new home and start eating again.
