I found everything I need for a superworm colony today. The food, I tried to find at the farm supply store, but they didn't have it. I surprisingly found it at the grocery store with the organic cereal/baking supplies. Wheat bran and natural oats. Less than $4.
I also picked up a superworm pupating station (AKA a bead sorting box) at the craft store for $2. I have some in there right now. So hopefully They'll enter pupae stage by the time I return from my Thanksgiving vacation. The extras are set up with food and carrots. I have mealies on hand to feed my guys for now. Also got some screw-top tupperware containers for the babies to grow in. Gonna poke holes in the lids for air.
I have a question though: Does water gel play any part in a superworm colony? Would the adult beetles use it? Because I have enough to last me forever watering crickets.
