Evil Shih-tzu!!!

So, I'm a pet groomer of almost 11 years. I enjoy my job but some people and their pets just hit the wrong nerve! I personally tell people the truth on how your animal acts while grooming or anything else so we can work on it. From biting, matting, nervousness, or anything involved while I have your "pet" in my care. We do not medicate but will groom pets under medication with a careful eye if the owners/vet do it. With that being said..we have a few that try and push the limits on what we can and cannot do. I give the " I'll try my best, if it don't work..then it don't work."
Well....we have a shih-tzu stright from the gates of well you know. We will mark cards on biters "BDH" Bites..%F$j..Hard and either go slow with the pet or muzzle. So a couple months back a co-worker groomed her no marks on the card and I could not recall her saying anything about her. Well, the customer was very upset with the haircut. It wasn't even enough and her nails were not done and she didn't get ANY BOWS! So my boss tells her to come back in and we will touch her up and the next haircut was on the house. Well, come to find out after we talked with the lady that groomed her she was a biter and the owner medicated her with ACE cause the owner knows she is a biter and she told her she did the best she could do. Okay the dog comes back in for her touch up and is perfect for me. Now Saturday the dog is back for her full haircut the owner bring a list of things to do and a picture..which is fine that didn't bother me what bothered me was the way she wrote it out. An example "Do her anals, she needs it and I want it done this time, and I will be checking." Okay, she goes over the full list, shows me the picture, and I give her I'll do my best but if she gives me too much of a problem I WILL not force groom a dog. Okay on to the pre-clip she is acting fine till I go and try the nails..BAM..BAM..BAM you'd think this dog was injected with a shot of rabies or something. Wow, such a fast little bugger I muzzle her and have to get three...three people to hold her for me to clip her nails...this dog by the way weighs 12 lbs! after that she calms down and I go to wash her and at this point I take the muzzle off in order to get the face clean. BAM..BAM...wth! This dog is crazy lol Done there take her to the back room for drying again acting fine now but for our safety put the muzzle back on..I end up finishing the dog with thinking this dog is just plain mean. Phew...glad it's over though. The owner come to pick her up and I explain in detail everything she tried and I tried and told her it was best to come on a slower day so I can take more time with her (I'm saying this while she is checking everything on her dog to make sure it was done to her satisfaction) and I get the.."Uh-huh...yep...uh-huh." And I know it's in one ear and out the other. "Okay!" she stops me mid sentence. " I told you I wanted her nails done!" "Mam, I told you I did her nails the best I could." I get the eye roll.."Why don't she have bows!" OMG I forgot the freaking bows...my mistake..really but I'm thinking in the back of mind...you stupid..well nevermind I'll leave that out...again my mistake. "Okay, I'll put bows in her if you hold her..and please hold her mouth." She gives me this look like I am the cruelest person in the world for saying that...and again she KNOWS her dog is a biter! We take her back I show her how to hold her so I can put the bows in (the dog is growling at this point) again I know she is not paying attention. "I need your full attention on this for your safety and mine" I tell her.."Okay, can they be pink?" GRRRR whatever just let me get this over with and I try...........................................................................................

with this being the end result! No sorry..just her walking out with her dog, no bows, not nails being trimmed down more, and me telling her I will no longer be grooming her dog as I don't feel safe doing so. Not my worst bite but still come on. Sorry just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening...

It's always the little ankle biters...

One of my best friends was hospitalized after being bitten by a minpin that wasn't properly vaccinated. She's a groomer, too.

Yeowch! That must've hurt!
I had an evil Shih tzu growing up. He would attack anyone that came into our yard and even attacked me at night in the hallway several times. I was guaranteed to get bit at least a couple of times every bath but seldom did he actually break the skin. Mostly just welts. He was EVIL!! :main_rolleyes:

I may sound mean and down right wierd for saying this, but when any of my rescued dogs bit me, I wrested that SOB to the ground and bit his ear hard as ... ;) Mind you , I have only rescued mastiff breeds and they usually got the point after one "I'M THE ALPHA MALE" bite.

I honestly can't stand people who own a dog and can't control or train it to be level headed. My pug had a severe fear of getting his nails done and we played with his nails weekly to break him of the fear. My Tosa Inu hated a bath, so I took all 178 pounds of him to a nearby lake and we played in the water and I praised him for being good.

Owning a dog isn't just feeding it, just like being a mother isn't just feeding the child. You need to mold your animal into a member of society just like you do with children.

With that said, I wouldn't groom that dog again either due to the customers attitude and the lack of socialization to her dog alone.

Are you up to date on your rabies? ;)
I got attacked by a feral cat at work and had to get 5 rabies shots in october. Fun stuff. Small dogs are always the evil ones, people baby them and they think that they are the alpha over every human in the world. :main_rolleyes:

omg, that's awful!!!

LOL Rob and I have to pin Jerry Lee to do his nails too...after the vet tried once (he was muzzled) and he freaked out we're the only ones who do it...Rob sits on his midsection and pins his head down and I've got my back to his and pin down the back and then we switch...he's not a biter though luckily. He just won't sit still!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked as a bather for a grooming salon... for 6 months...
Part of the reason I left was because of lame little kick-me dogs like that.
These people carry pictures of their darling Poopsiekins and NO pictures of their own kids or grankids. WTH!

I bear a very strong grudge against Llasa Apsos, Mini Schnauzers, Bichon Frises and Toy poodles, thanks to that place.

I know they aren't all like that. Just the ones that go to groomers! *grr*

There was one lady who wanted her shelties' nails cut so short, they bled, because she just had new wood floors put in and didn't like the sound their nails made on the floor... Those poor babies...

I'm glad to hear she won't be coming back. I hope you are okay!
