I can't seem to figure this out right. The instructions are:
1) Ensure the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer is removed from the wall receptacle.
2) Each timer segment around the timer dial represents 15 minutes. Push down the segments according to the time you want the device(s) to turn on and how long you wish for it to stay on.
3) Turn the timer dial until the pointer is aligned to the presenttime.
4) Plug the device(s) into the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer and then plug the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer into the receptacle.
5) The timer function can be switched off by moving the red slide switch on the side of the timer toward "I". The timer plug will then bypass the timer function and supply power permanently.
I've followed these steps exactly. When testing it; I push the little segments down for a few hours, set the time to at least an hour before, plugged the fan or light in, then plugged the timer in the wall. The device starts going immediately. The red switch is set to the timer.
