Hello all. Typing that title made me feel smart :) !

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone with experience with this product (the hide with the magnets in it) could oblige by posting. I found a couple other threads on this product, though they never came to a final decision if it would function as both a warm and cool side hide. Anyone else know if this product allow heat from the UTH to reach inside the burrow?

I hope these hides work, for it would be cool to be able to see your gecko even when it's sleeping. I also hear the geckos absolutely love them (plus they look very natural as well).

They do love them buts its near impossible to properly heat. And if the gecko spends all of its time in cool tempatures it wont be able to digest food.

Thank you for your insight Bennayboi. Would it work as a cool side hide, or is it they just shouldn't be in the cage at all?

Lots of folks use them, and leos do like them.
It's true too that the heat does not penatrate it unless you move
it directly over the center of your UTH.

If you use one, just remember those magnets are powerful, make
sure their little toes arent in the way when you stick that side
cover on, or you will hear a gecko SCREAM!! :(

So if I placed the hide directly on the glass above the UTH, it would be able to absorb/conduct enough heat for it to function as a warm hide?

I dont quite understand what you mean! :main_huh:
Those are wall mounted. Half is on the inside, the other half is on
the outside of the tank.
The only way to get the heat to penetrate it is to put it directly over
the warmest spot (which is usually in the middle of the floor).
If you use it the way they say, its barely over the edge of the UTH
where it doesnt get very hot.

Sorry for the confusion. What I was asking is if it would work as a hot side hide, which you answered. I will look into some other type of hide for the hot side.
