Hi,
I have had my little man for 13 days now, and I thought he was eating his mealworms but it turns out the locusts have been eating them! I caught them this morning. This means that he hasnt eaten for 13 days and I am getting worried. My viv has a red heater light in the middle of the tank which means the air temp is hitting 93-94 f, could it be too hot in there? The reason I started putting the light on was because my heat mat was good at 92-93f on the hot side, but the air temp was only reaching 75f which I know is too cold, hence leaving the red light on at all times. Im worried now this may be making the air temp too hot, could this put a gecko off its food?Is it possible to have a viv thats too hot?Im not sure how else to keep the air temp stable, its either too hot or too cold. I hope someone can help me with this as I dont think he has drank any water either and he is only six weeks old so pretty small.
Thank you in advance for any help
Samantha

Temps are in the ball park. U may just have to hand feed a couple mealies until it eats them itself. The best is u have to cut the mealie so some guts come out and rub on the lips. After a couple licks they will eat. Tweezers are good.

Try some crickets. I have a couple that refuse to eat mealies but they do eat crickets. They can be picky at times.

Seems like it might be a couple degrees too COLD to me... Eh.

Try feeding one, only one, waxworm a night - there almost is not a leo out there that won't eat waxies, and they're great for stimulating the appetite. They're easy, you just dangle them in front of him, or drop it, and he'll definitely eat it. Once you notice an improvement in his eating though (hoping you do!) stop feeding them the waxworms. Waxies are SO high in fat and are bad for leos in large amounts. They're leo ice cream, basically. When my leo wouldn't eat I did this, and she was fine ever since.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice,I am going to try waxies to see if this works. Im a bit worried about the way he is as well, as in his personality, he seems very listless, even when a locust or cricket has been right in front of his nose he just turns away. I have also tried holding a mealworm in front of him with a tweezers and one has even run over his nose but he just stays asleep or turns away. I thought that geckos were stimulated by movement,or could this be due to his lack of eating?
