Okay so ive been looking after my baby gecko for about 5 weeks now and its not realy a baby any more i guess .
but it wont open its right eye and its probably the worst thing thats ever happened to any of my geckos. there is a bit of srusty un-shed skin around the eye and its been closed for about three days now, i dont know what happened.
ive been keeping it in a large tupper ware boz with a heat mat, and kitchen roll as the substrate, with a shallow water dish and fed it almost exclusively on mealworms with the occasional wax worm to give it a bit of fat. there is also a little bit of what they call 'habitat bark' in there to help it shed. i clean it out very regularily about once every other day at the moment and im adding calcium supplement into the food. the only thing ive changed recently is the hide in there.. it was a cardboard box with a hole cut in it and now it is a kitchen roll tube (the middle bit). but i doubt that would make much of a difference.
i keep the water dish full with clean dechlorinated water. so is there any reason why its eye isnt open. could it be infected ?
