I have a large male that seems to be having some kind of eye problem. I think it started with a shedding problem (the air got very dry in my basement due to the cold weather and a lot of the geckos started having problems shedding). However I helped them all and everyone seems to be fine but the male. When I wiped the shed away from his eyes it came aways with some gooey stuff but he seemed fine and had his eyes open (This was day before yesterday). Yesterday I didnt get a good look at him, and now today he is walking around with his eyes closed. They seems to be stuck together. There is nothing crusty on the outside, but he wont open them. I am planing on taking him to the vet Monday but I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything I could do to help him before that. Is their any kind of ointment or cream that might help? Thanks a bunch guys.

I just went down and spent some time with the geckos and the big male for sure has goop in his eyes. I soaked him in some warm water and he opened them and they seem to be covered in a film of the goo. Any ideas? I could really use some help here. Im worried since I cant take him in for two days.

I'm having problems with my little one's eyes as well. It's been going on for a while now. I'm taking her to the vet on Tuesday. The only thing that I know that you could try would be soaking him in warm water like you said to loosen the stuff out and then maybe see if you can get the goop off with a qtip? I was also told to put Bausch and Lomb advanced eye relief in the eyes. So I've been soaking her and putting the drops in once a day. I'm sure more times a day would be preferable. But, mine has had the problem for so long, I think she's having vision problems. Not too sure. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help. Good luck! Let me know what the vet says.

I talked to the vet over the phone today and she said to wash the eyes out four times a day for two days with saline solution (the kind you clean contacts with) and see if the color of the goop (mine is green) lightens and it seems to get better. If it doenst then she wants me to bring him in so he can get a prescription, but apparently you can sometimes beet the infection by keeping them clean with the saline solution. She did say that the color of the goop mattered a lot in this situition though so if your geckos isnt green I wouldnt try this. Also it sounds like yours is worse then mine at this point so if i were you I would go ahead and go into the vet. Gook luck, I hope this works and you can restore your geckos vision.
