Eye Problems

Hello,

I'm quite concerned about one of my geckos and I wondered if someone could give me some advice please? I'm not sure if I am being paranoid, but one of my geckos seems to have a problem with his eyes. I'd noticed yesterday that he was squinting a bit, so I took him out to check him over and check for any shedding stuck but once he was out he stopped doing it (and I couldn't see any shed stuck/anything in his eyes) Anyway when I got in today, he was still squinting a bit so I took him out again and his eyes look completely black, they're usually black in the middle but quite grey coloured around the edges... does anyone know what could be causing this? Think he may need a trip to the vets, but in the mean time is there anything I could do for him please? :(

The black part of the eye is the pupil, it is perfectly normal for it to dilate(grow) or contract(shrink) based on how much light it is exposed to. He probably squinted because he was in a fairly dark spot, which dilates the pupil, and then you pulled him out into the light and made him squint, just like a person squints when they walk out of a relatively dark building into bright sunlight. Doesn't sound like there is anything to worry about assuming he is eating and otherwise acting normally.

I have a special needs male redstripe with eye issues. I have to soak them with a damp paper towel to get them to moisten up. I do have a loup(30x) I've found bits of his substrait or stuck shed in there and have wiped them away. I seems to happen if I don't keep his humid hide on the really moist side.
Good luck
