Eyesight issues

My leo, Digger, is almost 8 years old. I'm not sure how good his vision ever was, but it became apparent to me today that it's gotten significantly worse than it was when he was younger. He had trouble seeing a blaptica dubia roach today.
Is this normal? Is there a potential problem I should be aware of? I'm a little concerned and wondering if I'm going to have to hand feed him for the next 12 years. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

I was wondering is there any way that there might be stuck shed or a scratch? corneal abrasions will cause ulcerations eventually which will make your animnal blind if left untreated. You'd be able to see hazing where the ulcer is as it progresses. I would first rule out any medical cause just to be sure it's nothing treatable. If it's age related (if it can be?) gutload your bugs with carrots. Maybe the lutine in the carrots will help the leo's eyesight. Any chance he just wasn't hungry? Maybe a colder than usual day?
