Kirin is getting HUGE! He's had a much better appetite since we moved- granted, the room he's in is a bit drafty, so I bought him an infrared heat bulb that comes on at night (or if it's cold out, I just leave it on all day) and he's eating like a champ (and his poos are huge too)... but should I be concerned he's getting so fat?

I know, a picture would help out a lot for this post... so here's before we moved

And while I'm at it... should I worry about this?

Sorry for the bad quality of the last two, he was a bit angry that he ate all this food and mean mommy didn't make it to the store yesterday.

so... I fill his bowl w/ maybe 20-23 worms when it's empty... but it turns out to be every other day or every third day (I'm not an over feeder... I don't think?) Right now he's eating small superworms b/c we didn't have a fridge when we moved... and they don't need to be kept cool- he seems to prefer them. Is that too many?

I've only dusted his food twice w/ vitamins (granted, I just got them, and it was maybe once a week...) is that too much?

And I'm glad he doesn't look too fat to you guys! I'm just paranoid. I've had him a year now... and I swear he doesn't grow slowly.. it's a lot of nothing then BAM! I'M HUGE!! y'know?

When you feed supers, less is more. They're meatier than mealworms, so less are needed. Also, adults don't need as much food or supplements as growing juvs, so cutting back a bit on both would be a good idea. He looks great :)

Looks great! Remember, in Fall geckos put on a lot of fat reserves to help them through their brumation period in the wild. Even if most of us do not brumate our leos, many will slow down on eating and activity during the winter months.

(I thought I was the only one who called my geckos 'Fatty McFat Fat'...)

The armpit bubble could be excess calcium storage, or it could be excess protein. I once got the liquid tested by a vet, and it turns out to be plain protein and water. So, if you cut back on the food, the bubble size should reduce.

I thought for a minute that you found pictures of my leos (who are almost all Fatty McFatFats). The "water wings" are as many people posted, just calcium sacks, nothing to worry about. It does sound like you are doing some over feeding, though, unless those supers are really small. Just cut back either the quantity or frequency of feeding and you'll be fine.

I have mine in trio's and two of my females in one of the groups have these. Glad I seen this thread. So all I have to do is cut down on the vitamins??

I have a bowl in and it has Calcium D3 and a little bit of Nutrobol in with it and then about 30ish mealworms to do the three of them and they get locusts too.

Am I doing things right? They seem to be fine? Poop, shed and eat great
