I use brown paper lawn bags. Looks better than the other paper options and is more durable. I put a thin strip of tape along the sides so the bugs can't get underneath.

Playsand

Calci sand has calcium in it. you dont want you leo getting used to eating the sand to obtain calcium. and further risking the chance of impaction.

if you use playsand it doesnt have calcium so they wont voluntarily eat it.

Bad BAd bad idea..

i hope this was a joke

i dont see why.. none of the piece of wood fit in its mouth and it keep humidity well and i refuse to have it pass his life on paper and plastic it may be convenient but i really dont think its natural

if you have better natural substrate option then im willing to listen

I thought lots of humidity in the tank was bad for a leopard gecko, making them prone to respiratory infections. I understand a moist micro-environment within the tank is necessary for shedding, but that the rest of the tank should mimic an arid, rocky desert. Is this wrong?:main_huh:

Go with slate. They live in stone environments in the deserts of India and Pakistan. Go to lowes and get some nice Indian slate for a couple of bucks and you have an amazing looking surface that is actually indigenous to where they are from. It's a win/win.
