PLEASE READ! Last night, I wanted to try feeding all of my Leos some dubia roaches. I do not think they are eating mealies lately and I wanted to see what I could do to "try something different" for thier diet. They may be also obvulating/getting ready to breed. I'll keep some dubias in there to try and see if they get eaten at all. A couple questions:

1. Better alternative to giant mealies I can try? I have tried dubias and they don't like em', I have tried waxworms and they don't like em', ect.. Maybe silkworms? The silkworms are awesome for them, and they like them alot. Let me know.
2. My male WILL and does eat the dubias (the only one!), so should I keep a reserve of them for him (extra $$$!)? Plus should I use as a "staple diet anyway?

Oppinions and advice PLEASE!

When I first started I used crickets, I was new and won't do that again. I then switched to meal worms and super worms. They all ate em. I started roaches about 4 months ago and they like them too. So I am sticking with meal worms and roaches with some super worms.

However the last two months or so all their apatites have dropped noticeable. No they still eat and haven't lost weight much if any. So I am relaxing and thinking it has to do with all this cold weather. Non stop rain keeps my air temps cooler. But the temps on my hot side of all their enclosures are about 90 with UTH but the air temps are cooler.

Thats my thoughts on it. I am sure everyones house is a bit different and where you have your setups.

Okay, I only have one and am relatively new to geckos, but I feed mine crickets, and gave him 3 mealies a week...Um superworms- basically big mealworms, Pheonix worms, hornworms (They get huge(5 inches) so you need freshly hatched), the silkworms, waxworms...
Thats basically a list of everything a leo can eat..There is also babyfood, like squash and bananna That they might eat, but not so healthy for them..

Superworms are not big mealworms. A different species altogether.

I would say try it a bit more. I think they are so much cleaner and when gutloaded I read they keep all that good stuff in their stomach for about 24hours which in turn passes it along to your geckos. My roaches sometimes like oranges, they really like carrots though.
