Feeding a smaller / young leopard gecko?

Hello! Unfortunately my leopard gecko passed away a few days ago. I actually had him euthanized at a vet due to him being unable to eat (was also totally blind) so he would pass easier. He was only 13 but had a growth in his mouth that was just too much to deal with, and some other issues ..I rescued him off Craigslist a few years ago.

I'm mentioning this because my previous leo would not eat anything on his own. I was curious if younger leopard geckos can catch crickets and fast moving bugs? I used to pull all the legs off of them.

I also saw a few smaller / young leopard geckos I was interested in. I would be unable to feed them super worms for sure, they are very small!

Are meal worms okay to feed a young leopard gecko? Can they even catch crickets? Im just so used to caring for an older / slower / declining leopard gecko I am unsure!!!

Are superworms bad for leopard geckos? my beardie eats them so I thought maybe when my next leopard gets bigger he can eat those. Who knows! Thank you sooo much

Young leos can eat any insect that an adult can eat, so long as it is an appropriate size. Obviously, it wouldn't be wise to feed a juvie full grown crickets or Dubia.

Okay! for some reason I had thought meal worms were bad, like they are all shell and hard to digest, I dont know why I associated them with that but hey whatev! thanks :))

Mine used to eat live mealworms with heads and all just fine. Now he's unto superworms coz he's way bigger than he used to be. But like phantom said, they're less nutritious but will definitely help if you plan to fatten your male a bit. And oh, sorry for your loss :)
