This little gecko gal is highly amusing. Apparently the ravenous beast trait is not connected to higher than average intelligence. After a few minutes of giggling at her I got a bit worried about her brains getting further addled and moved the wax worm to her bowl :p

Cute video! I love the pre-strike tail wag...haha

I hate to buzz kill, but keeping juvenial leos (or adults for that matter) on sand can be a dangerous idea. Feeding them on sand is a huge risk IMO. If they injest too much they can become impacted fairly easily and it can kill them. If it's calcisand its a super bad idea. They may choose to eat it and hurt themselves even faster. I would recommend switching to tile or paper towels or at least feeding him in a different enclosure.

yeah sand is bad. But not as bad as calcium sand.

MAN, I went to a new local pet store just to see what they had, and they had a baby blizzard and normal leo. Both on calcium sand, pet store owner actually told me:

"its good for them, they eat it and get calcium that way, and then I don't have to dust their feeders"

/facepalm

i walked out. What a dumb ignorant pet store owner, oh wait, that's typical. I wanted to tell her how wrong she is and that calcium sand is the worst, clumps and causes calcified lumps and impaction, but I knew she already 'knows' whats right.

I use that in my laying boxes but not sure I'd use it as a substrate. When its dry it has the ability to expand - A LOT - and when its wet it will keep the tank at a much higher humidity than is healthy for a leo. If you want something that looks natural and is safe I would try tile or slate.

Lol thanks for the awesome comments.

This little gecko is the hungriest thing I've ever met!! She's constantly at the glass trying to dig through it whenever she sees anything move! Sorting mealworms? I want!! Eating breakfast? I want! Looking at the mail? I want! Photographing a snake? I want! I think her brain cells shut off quicker than most...lol.
