Feeding Canned Crickets

All of my geckos (because of special needs..) are hand fed with tweezers everyday. My question is: Since they are so used to eating from the tweezers and will strike at them no matter what, in case of emergencies where I run out of live..could I feed canned crickets/mealworms?

I bought canned mealworms/ crickets when I first got my geckos because I was a bit squeamish about the live bugs. (I quickly grew out of that). And I found that if you used the feeding tweezers and sort of wiggle it in front of them they think it is alive an go for it. They also have those feeding dishes that vibrate and make it appear that dead bugs are alive. So it should be okay unless you have finicky eaters that insist on live food. The canned worms and crickets stink like death tho.

Haha. They do smell so bad. I work at a petstore and I opened up a can one day. Canned would only be incase of emergency...and..they cost a fortune at the store!

My geckos (except for one) all strike at the tweezers whether or not there is anything on the end of them, that's how used to tweezer feeding they are!

Yeah. I have got my geckos pretty spoiled as well by using the tweezers and I makes me worry if they would even eat them out of a bowl if I went out of town or something. I have left some in a bowl before and they just sat there or escaped. :( I gotta stop spoiling them! lol

I would say you can feed the dried ones in an emergency. My only concern would be their nutrient content being far less than live, gutloaded insects. But if they are only on them for a short amount of time, I don't see a problem with it.
