Feeding Dubia

I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't seem to find it through the search feature.

Anyway...for those of you who feed dubia to your Leos, how many and what size do you feed to your adults? How often?

I usually feed medium dubia to my adults every few days as much as they will take. However I've noticed one of my girls is getting a little on the tubby side. Thanks in advance.

I feed one "appropriately sized" dubia, dusted, twice a week. I keep my dubias fed and gut loaded all the time.

I have been feeding my 3 leos as much they'll eat at one sitting, which is between 2 - 3 medium sized (~0.75") dubias. But only 5 nights a week because I stay at my boyfriend's the other 2 nights. There are also mealworm dishes that are always in the tanks. Two of the 3 leos are usually waiting out at the front of the tank when I come home at night for dubias. They generally only eat from the mealworm dishes the 2 nights I'm away. They range from 3 to 5 months old in age.

Thank you guy. I've just been curious because there isn't much info about how many dubia to feed out and how often. I don't want to give more than needed and have them get fat.

Might need to cut back feedings for one of my adult girls as she seems to be getting tubby lol. She's too voracious of a feeder though she'll just keep eating, both a good and bad thing.

I love feeding the dubia they seem the to be the most filling as most of my Leos usually only take 1, sometimes 2 at a time.

Whenever I walk by my Leo rack they always come out to see of I'm about to feed. Its actually funny because whenever I open their tub, they always look ready to pounce. They seem to know its feeding time whenever they see my tongs also, even though there isn't any visible food yet. I believe that they associated the tongs with food as well because they seem to track it whenever its feeding time even without any food at the end of it.

They don't really have an 'off' switch when it comes to feeding (with the exception of my stubborn females during breeding season), so you have to implement one for them. Nobody likes an obese gecko (not to mention it shortens their lifespan considerably).

Hey,

I've heard from a few people that if you feed mainly roaches you gecko will end up with gout when they older. I was looking into dubia but just to mix it up and was curious if anybody had any info on this?

I usually feed the half inch long dubia to my adult leos. Sometimes slightly bigger. My young leos take the smallest dubia I can pull out of the tubs. I use the general "eye" sizing guide with roaches and haven't had a problem. Adults get around 5 dubia once a week, 5-10 crickets 3 times a week, and mealworms in between. Everything is gut-loaded and loaded with calcium.

i feed my 4 adult leopards med to large dubia with no problems they take down full grown adults if i toss them in. i often feed males out to keep the male population down. i feed them about 2 or 3 every other day. i dont have a feeding schedule i just kinda feed as i go. 2 of my female leos are way over weight so im trying to cut back.
