Feeding my gecko Greedo up until about 8 months ago was great fun, she would put on a real show, we would watch her tail flip around, her eyes narrow and watch her pounce.
It also helped watching her as it gave us a good idea how much she needed to eat and when she was full.
Then about 8 months ago she stopped. She would not eat in front of us anymore. We tryed a red light and no light at all but she wasnt intrested. Soon as we were in bed however we would hear her hunting! I even put the light on once to find her locust in mouth and a guilty look on her face!!
I had to put in a couple of locusts at a time and leave her to it, the amount of locusts left in the morning would give me a clue, usually there was none.
However about a month ago, greedo got a new house, quite a bit bigger than her old one. Greedo has now reverted to "the Greedo show" at mealtimes!!
Its great to see but I do worry that maybe her not eating in front of us was a sign she wasnt completely happy? She certainly seemed fine, regulary coming out to sit on us and play and looked healthy as ever.
Anyone elses Leos done something similar with there eating patterns?:main_huh:

That is very interesting,

Could you have it backwards though ? I wonder if it has to do with simply liking the hunt and could be just reverting back to hunting instincts when they are really comfortable in the enclosure.

Then when you moved to a new/bigger enclosure and not really feeling perfectly safe to hunt on his own just yet in the new place would accept hand feedings

Intresting point, as you say it could be that she likes us being nearby again as she is becoming accustomed to her new place!
The first day we put her in she ran straight to her old hide (which we put in the same corner to give her something familiar). Then eventually she began exploring, with really big curious eyes, theres no denying she loves the new place, but it has more stuff in it and probably does take a bit of getting used to!
