Female chasing male?

So I paired up my 2nd breeding group for the season and I observed some awkward behavior. My proven male seemed to have lost intrest in breeding and went about his usual routine. The virgin female was very excited once she noticed him and it seems like she tried courting him. He kept running away so she ened up biting him and trying to hold him down. (it was a gentle bite, no blood, no marks) He just ignored her and kept walking. Now I know for sure she is a female and that male has mated already this season with another of my girls. Im use to it working the other way around figure id see if anyone else ran into this situation. I left them together in the bin because im usually not that lucky to catch them in the act.

It's a possibility that she is a hot female or that she is not ready to breed just yet. Males recognize the pheromones that tell them if a female is ovulating or not. Or he just doesn't like her. But I don't know enough to say one way or another. I have seen my females chase away the male when they aren't interested in breeding though.

You got it wrong. If she was biting him, she wants him gone. When a female is ready, the female is not aggressive, does not bite, she just sits there with her tail perked a bit. You probably should not have left them in the bin if aggressive behavior was already observed.

Even if the male was walking away, in such a small enclosure, he's still in her "space".
