This is a crested that i got from a pet store. She is about 25 grams. Is she big enough to breed? This is her size compared to a AA battery.

Most are going to say 30-35 grams because it says that in the Rhac book. I have been introducing males to females around the size of yours since 2002 with great success and no problems at all. I read recently on the Repashy forums that he keeps pairs or groups together at young ages also and lets them breed when they are ready.

Usually by the time they lay eggs they are 30+ grams anyway. I never really understood why a weight is so important. They breed in the wild just fine and they dont jump on a scale before saying it's ok:)

In the wild, a fenake would have a fair bit more opportunity to get away from an advancing male than would she in captivity being that the space isn't limitted. I'd say that's the biggest difference.

Look, if you want to breed this gecko at the size it is then it's obvious that that's what you're gonna do. So in that case, listen to who you will. I personally wouldn't breed it. Bottom Line! :main_yes:

But it still happens;)
The most important thing is that the gecko is 100% healthy and it's being fed the proper diet. I've hatched out 100s of these geckos and I would have seen some type of problem by now if it was unhealthy for them to breed under the recommended weight. I still have my very first female that started breeding around 26 grams. She's 8 years old now and she is still out producing most of my other females.:main_thumbsup:

I think my biggest concern is that, if you just acquired her, she should go through a quarantine perios of at least 30 days before introducing her to any other geckos. ;)
