Hello,

My female #1 is now HUGE, even without turning her on her back i can see the egg... 4 weeks have passed now and she still didn't lay... I changed the humid box (vermiculite) and moisted well so it's all ready for her, what is she waiting for..? Should i worry/check anything?

Thanks.

I would recommend not disturbing her and let her do her thing. The added stress of changing the enclosure around and handling her can cause her to be uncomfortable and possibly delay the egg laying process. Make sure she has food and water then leave her alone for a few days. You can check on her but keep your contact with her at a minimum. When she is ready and feels secure, she will lay the eggs.

Yeah it was idea to handle her yesterday to take pics... I'll let her in peace now. Water dish it's full, but food..? I left worms but they never got attention... By the way female #2 is full too, I wonder if the Lay box is big enough? It's about 10*10cm and she is 16cm or so. She stays in at the moment, for a long time. I can't provide her bigger box now and can't put her with the other female cause she hates her.

When am I supposed to start worrying about my big female? I know that they can die if eggs stay in too long... It's been more than 4weeks now, since it's my 1st time it's hard not to worry!

I don't think baths and oil will help her lay an egg. They will probably just stress her out more. If she truly is egg bound - meaning she has fully formed eggs inside of her and cannot lay them -- the best thing to do would be to get her to a vet ASAP.

4 weeks is nothing, breeders have had females go 12 weeks...imagine that. Going off food is normal when gravid. Unless you see that she is straining, it's probably nothing to worry about. It's not a good idea to switch the bedding (or anything else) as it changes the smell in the enclosure , which could be a source of stress.

Changed the humid box only, from vermiculite to vermiculite.. Only humidity changed. I know 4 weeks is still ok, but I can't help worrying for my cutie

PS: The fact that she poop something extremely tiny every day or so means she's indeed about to lay, right?

Yeah I realize I didn't count well, it'll be 4 weeks next Tuesday.. Did you see her eggs through her sides too (after 3 weeks)?

Saw her licking her parts, does it mean something? I also realised that her tail thickness had lowered much... Was that your case too? I'm starting to worry again! :(

My female gets real antsy about 4 days before laying, she paces & climbs walls, she also licks herself often, drinks a lot but doesn't eat. I think we will have Easter eggs tomorrow.
Good luck!

Maybe i should've updated before to give news. Anyways she laid on 2th april without problems... So it's been 17days now, next clutch should be arriving before monday..? She ate quite well after the 1st laying and went up from 43g to 51g (originally was 53g or so..) however she stopped eating last saturday (1-2days after i moved her, for some reason i had to, i know it's not good),

Then went down to 49g. She's going crazy for 2-3 days, trying to climb everywhere (making quite a mess..), even saw her trying to pass her head through the 2mm air holes!! She's a large flat exo terra faunarium (45*30*19), i've put my male some times before in there and he was also going crazy that's why i'm worried is she going crazy cause eggs are pushing or also cause she hate to be there..? Hard to know and i guess i shouldn't move her again until she layed..?

My female's belly (the eggs) have turned reddish! I am very worried, it's been about 3-4 weeks since she has eaten and there is a blue spot on her chest. She has successfully layed several clutches in the past 2 years, although last year none of her eggs were fertile :( How can I upload a picture to show you???

SOOOO glad to hear she wasn't in trouble!! You'll have to post pictures of the babies when they hatch.

Moving is really stressful on a leo. Nothing that stresses them out any more than completely necessary should be done while they are breeding.
