So, I was thinking of making a good size hide to put in Teak's tank. My husband had suggested making it out of fiberglass. Is that safe for reptiles? Obviously, we would let it completely cure, dry and make sure it is rid of fumes before putting it in the tank. Just wanted to know if anyone has made hides out of fiberglass and if you have any advice, thanks :)

I've made hides out of craft foam and drywall spackeling. Also slate and grout. Fiberglass would be safe if you let it cure until it has no smell. Also watch for sharp edges from the fibers in the fiberglass. In the summer I put the hides outside for a few days in the garage. It gets pretty hot in there. I made one a few weeks ago and put it in the oven on warm with door cracked for a few hours and it helped speed up the curing.

Cool, thanks! Yeah we would probably put it in the oven to speed up the process. My husband knows more than me how it works but I wanted to see if anyone else has made hides made out of fiberglass. Yeah I'll def watch for sharp edges. Would it be possible to sand it down when it is completely cured with an electrical sander?
