So I'm pulling my hair out. I need to find an old 'fridge to make into an incubator (a mini-fridge preferably).. but I just can't find one.. anywhere! All the junk yards around here tell me they only deal in car parts.. Where do you find your's?

Jeremy? lol

Yup. lol

If you can wait until spring and liver near a college campus, just keep an eye on the curbs during move-out week. :main_laugh:

You can also try going to Yahoo, they have a section called freecycle where people give away things they don't want anymore, broken down by geographic area. You can also make requests there and might just find someone local with a broken fridge.

Well I think I found a side-by-side... All these side-by-sides for free... and no mini-fridges! It's insane... Anywho, I'll have some pictures once I get it home... unpacked.. converted... and all that jazz.

outta my freakin mind
A few secret locations... Appliance repair shops, hotels, and college campuses.

I think one of the reasons you don't see more of them as give away items is, they will fit into a trash can most of the time.:main_lipsrsealed:

Hey Josh, keep your eye out for a mini-fridge for me now that you got that big mama-jama, I bet that side by side could be fixed up rather easy to have a male incubator in the smaller freezer side and a female incubator in the big refrigerator side (just a thought). But since we are in the same area if you see a mini let me know, I have been looking for one to redo so that I will have plenty of room upfront, plus I am not too confident in the hovabators (which I have) and their temp fluctuation anyway.

Will do, man. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get this fridge or not -- they haven't called me back! lol

Ebay has a lot of inexpensive "mini fridges", you might want to give them a try to see if they have what you need.

Go to a store that sells fridges. Most of them when they bring a new one out to your house they will take the old one. They have to pay to get rid of them. Around here they will give them away. You might get lucky and find a mini or something close to it.

...fridges..

we're putting out a few next week if you're in nyc area..lol

I work at a hotel, and we have to put them out on wednesday night,
you should call your city sanitation and find out when stuff like that gets picked up, and beat them to the pickup...

normally I think they have to be put outside after a certain time, like 5pm, then that evening someone from sanitation comes around and removes the freon, then the following morning they get picked up.

I just ripped the compressor out of one that hadf a freon leak today,
thinking of making it my weekend project ...good luck
