Fire Skink

So I picked up a lovely little fire skink at the All-Maryland Reptile Show today. Was all I could afford, but I've been wanting one for a while. He's incredibly tame and easy to handle, and so beautiful!

So I have a few quick questions..

Is lighting necessary?
Is UVA/UVB necessary?
Belly heat necessary, ok to have?
Are a combo of Bed A Beast and Spagum Moss good substrates?
Is a 10 gallon tank too small?
Do mealies make a good staple?

:) Thanks!

He seems a little lethargic and will basically let me do whatever I want to him. It's a little concerning, probably because I'm so accustomed to how finicky my leos are.

make sure you get the little guy to a vet they are hardly ever captive bred and usually full of parasites. I have also had one awsome animal!!! lost to parasites sadly:(

Look at Fat tail care. Make sure you have a loose substrate to burrow in, but not to dry or to wet. Water must be available. Feed insects at first, but after it's eating you can use soft fruit/berries as a treat. Snails and slugs will be eaten too.

I know they need a high humidity, and at least 4" of soil or such like maybe sphagnum. UVA and UVB won't hurt them. Obviously I'm like 2 weeks late on this post so you probably have it all under control by now! :/

I'm sorry Pepper, I guess you didn't see my other post. Turns out he was very sick when I purchased him and passed away the day after I got him.. Poor little guy.. :(

Could an admin maybe close this thread?
