So I'm headed to the hamburg reptile show this weekend where I plan on getting my first beardie. I have either a 10g or a 100g open, which brings about the question, should I get a juvenile or an adult? I have a friend who wants to sell their adult for 75 to me. But I dunno if I'm getting a decent price. Or a decent dragon. So for a first timer, juvi or adult?? :main_huh:

I kinda prefer adults with any animal as temperament is known where juvies can drastically change as they mature. Your once loving cuddly juvie could turn into a finger grabbing maniac.

I dont know about that finger grabbing maniac part?

They all are usually pretty mellow as adults. I'd go for the baby! I love watching them grow up, and also unless your friends is a really cool colored one....I'd go for a sandfire or one of the other reds! There are some REALLY nice ones out there!

You'll want to use the 10 gallon first if it's a baby, but he will quickly out grow it, so dont fill your 100 gal, put it on hold for him later, then you could always get another leo for your 10 gal. later :)

PS Be prepared to be taking care of crickets too....juvies go thru ALOT of them! Like 35-60 daily! :)

Yeah that was a slight exaggeration :main_yes: I don't think they could becoe a finger grabbing maniac, I was just trying to express how drastically personality can change between juvie into adult. It's a little easier with dogs because personality is set by 16 weeks.
