Hey everyone. Been away from topic posting for a while but still browsing the forum. Just had my first egg batch a few days ago from my leopard gecko ‘Norah’ (pictured below).

Although the two eggs are dead (as I didn’t find them in time hidden in the tanks homemade gravel nesting box) I still thought I would share a photo with you guys anyway. The two eggs were 3 ½ inches in length.

Many thanks

how is the gravel at holding moisture, because it looks like the eggs became that way due to not enough moisture in the substrate.

A nice laybox medium is eco-earth (coco fiber) by Zoo Med, it is not suppose to mold, it is good at holding moisture and as long as it is not too wet can successfully sustain eggs for a while. My crested gecko laid eggs in eco-earth and because I never saw signs of disturbance in container I did not check it. When I decided to check the container I found eggs, that showed signs of being in the container for a while as the eggs candled completely red, and I would estimate had been there for about 2 weeks.

Zoo Meds coco fiber is a lot nicer than exo-terra's. I find that it is finer ground, contains less stringy fibers and holds moisture longer.
