When you first get your gecko and bring him home its normal for them to not do much yes?
Mine just likes to lay in the warm hide and chill there basically all day and sleep. Is this normal?
And he does eat, he ate about 2 mealworms today and a couple yesterday. I just want to make sure the not activity is normal since i just got him. Hopefully nothing wrong.

Leopard geckos can be very stressed when placed in a new home with new surroundings. It is common for them to stop eating and sleep more during the acclimation period. The fact that your gecko has eaten for you already is great, most don't do that for the first couple days, or even weeks, when first brought home. Also, you have to remember that they are crepuscular/nocturnal reptiles, meaning that they will not be active during the daytime and will usually sleep throughout this period.

Since they are desert reptiles, they don't need tons of water, but they do drink when needed. I rarely see mine drink at all, but I know they do so. As long as you have a shallow bowl of water, you don't need to help him find it, he'll figure that out himself. I find my geckos' primary source of water is from their humid hides. They love to lap the misted droplets of water that gather on top of the Tupperware container, as well as on the moist paper towel.

Leave him be for now and let him adjust to his enclosure for at least another week or two before you begin handling. That can be a major stressor that can cause them to go off feed during the acclimation period.

ok thank you. i just get worried i dont want anything to be wrong with my little guy.
he does notice me and does move around in the warm hide but when it comes time to feed i try to move the hide so he has room to move around to help him out. and i have sometimes put my hand next to him slowly and i always make sure he can see my hand come to him so i dont startle him. he has licked it and walked accross it but kind of in a hurry so i try to keep my hand out but also try to let him notice it so he can see im harmless.
