First Hatchling

We've have two eggs being incubated and this morning one of them hatched! I am totally excited...our very first hatch. The other thing is that we didn't have an actual incubator, but rather put it under one of the heat lamps in the adults enclosure which varied in temp from 81-83.

I've done some research and from what I've read first shed usually happens within the first week, and then you can start feeding after that. Just wandering if this sounds right?

Congrats! The first hatchling is always so exciting, I clearly remember mine and the excitement never goes away every time you see another baby in the incubator . I'm surprised you got one to hatch by putting it under a light. That might work for the time being but I would really try to get an incubator soon to cut down on the possibilities of temp fluctuations.

and yes, you are correct, they hatch within a week and then you can try to feed them.

congrats! and agreed, they will start to eat within a week, normally after the first shed from 3-5 days after hatching.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! It's been over 12 years, but I still remember my first hatchlings. I sat in the middle of the floor and cried, I was so thrilled.

Thanks!! Yeah It seemed like we had been waiting a long time + not knowing for sure if they would even hatch out, since we had been incubating them under a heat lamp in our adults enclosure. It was funny my wife and I currently work together managing an apartment complex and we finished up our lunch and my wife went back to open the office. I checked on the eggs as usually, when I saw the little albino, at first I did a double take, and then I ran over to the office like a little kid, saying...an egg hatched, it hatched, it hatced!!!!!

My wife responded with it hatched!!! Funny...what an awesome feeling!
