Hi folks,

I have had my leo for 4 weeks now and he has had his first shed not long after i got him, he went to his moist box no problem and shed perfectly, however this time he has not gone to his moist hide to shed but his cool dry hide,

Im concerned the humidity wont be enough in here and wont shed properly so i have sprayed water to increase over all humidity and put some sphagnam moss (or how you spell it ) into where he is shedding.

Is there anything else i can do or can this sometimes be normal?

Thanks in advance

In most cases the gecko will shed just fine. If the gecko is familiar with its set up and chooses not to use it himid hide he/she probably has enough moisture to shed. If it feels it is to dry to shed it will normally seek out a place in the enclosure that has a higher humidity (ie: its humid hide). I would not worry about putting moss in the hide its in. I would just leave it alone to do its thing and check back in an hour or two. Most geckos once they actually start the process don't take very long to shed.

I had two humid hides in Archer's tank when he started a shed but he stayed in his hot hide and shed just fine. As long as there's enough humidity then he should be fine.

Just to clarify, The overall humidity in the enclosure should be pretty low for a leopard gecko. As long as there is a place for him to get moisture/humidity if he needs it and provide a small water bowl your fine.
