First Season Questions

Well this will be my first season in this hobby, although I've had leopard geckos for about 9 years now. I just had a few questions I couldn't seem to find consistent answers to.

First of all, is one successful mating enough to ensure fertile eggs? I put my ovulating female with my male and they mated immediately. The female was very receptive. Once I was sure they were successful, I separated them to reduce stress on my female. Will this be enough or should I put them together and leave them together for a week or so?

Also, I have my incubator set up and everything, but I'm still debating whether or not to purchase some of those GEO things or to incubate the old-fashioned way in vermiculite. Does anyone strongly believe the GEOs to be better than just vermiculite?

I do my fair share of googling, but I wasn't able to find definite answers for these two questions.

One mating will get them started for a while...probably 4 or 5 clutches. I would recommend letting them mate again later, in between clutches.

And this is also my first season, and my first eggs have not hatched yet...but I have done this discussion before. :) I recommend the GEO but use a little less Perlite than the 8oz (volume) that is recommended. This will create an airgap that will prevent molding. It doesn't matter if you have some standing water in the bottom of a cup with the GEO because the substrate never touches the eggs. :)
