First Season

So I have 6 geckos and 5 of the 6 have never bred before ( I have attached the list of my geckos for ref) . So I am breeding Bear with Sprite and Daffney and Home is paired with Soalra and Belle. By the way the photos are out of date - they are all 48grms and above, most in the 55 gram range. They have mated a couple of times over the past 5 weeks and no eggs. And when I put Belle with Homer she just pushed him away (he's 86 grams and she is 70 grams) and he was eager to get to work when I first put them together.

I have tried leaving them together for a few days (I have a rack system) and I have tried leaving them together...no luck

Any suggestions. It is my first season for breeding and there has been a lot of mating but not results. And they all have moist hides that contain a combination of peat with a 1/4 perilite.

Appreciate any help that you can offer...I am going a little nuts trying tofigure this one out. Thanks again.

I recomend waiting until females are 60 grams. 48 grams is way too small for a male or female to be breeding in my opinion. how old are your geckos?
What temps are you keeping them? It can take two weeks or more for a gecko to lay her eggs. If you flip them over and look at the tummy you will be able to see if there are eggs. If your gecko does not have a place that she thinks is perfect for laying she may not lay them. Keep track of when you put pairs together and when you first noticed eggs in the tummy so you have an idea of when the eggs should be layed. Look for signs of digging and refusing food. usually that means they will lay soon. hope some of this helped.

Brandy: I started 2nd guessing my weights and my smallest gecko female is 58 grams, next is 62, next is 68 and final is 72 grams. The males are 66 grams and 88 grams and all over 1.5 years old. I have a couple of geckos that are squeemish to be turned over and don't want to "stress" them out by my feeble attempts at being gentle with them. They all know their spoiled.

My Urban female is ovulating but doesn't want anything to do with a male yet and my others have tried once...but nothing has taken.

Oh the temps are: 85 at the back of the tray (back heat tape and not measure heat of tape) 78 in the front of the tray.

THank you for taking the time to help me! I really appreciate it.

Last season was my first and out of nine females only three became receptive... Nonetheless, I learned a lot and I'm sure you will too. My best advice is not worry too much. If it's going to happen it will. Good luck!

I didn't think that the temps were to be that warm. I thought gekos didn't like above 90??

Many people on here keep their hot spots around 92... including me. It is not too hot for them. Mine only leaves the hot spot to get food and water. Plus, if they do not like it that hot, that is why you also have a colder end.

I guess your alright on weight and age then. I agree the hot spot should be increased. I keep mine at 90. Don't worry too much. just keep an eye out and look for signs of digging. last season I had a first time breeder that took close to 3 weeks to lay her eggs and she only gave me one clutch. I was disapointed because the two she gave me were the best I hatched all season and was looking forward to haveing more from her but I'm keeping my fingers crossed this year that she lays all season.

GeckoAZ, lol your avatar picture freaks me out every time I see it. I keep thinking your leo has an incredibly large head. It wasn't until I made it bigger and saw that it was only the position of his/her neck. Haha, sorry... back to the topic.

Scott&Nikki: I hadn't noticed that before about how large Bears head looks...but it looks big. I really like using a rack system but get frustrated with the temperature. My Helix Digital/Proportional is set at 77 and my "Backup thermostat" shows 91...something is wrong with this picutre. Then I take the temp at the moist hide (at the back of the tray) and it's 84. It is a back heat rack system. I still like the tray size for breeding since I only put one male with one female.
