Hello everyone,
I just got my first order of online feeders from Canadiansilkworms.com, they arrived yesterday I fed some of the silkworms to my Leos, they seemed to liek them. Except my "very pregnant" Female Leo spat up all the silkies a few hours after eating them.. I wondered why.. I hope she isn't sick!!

"very pregnant" Female ......yuk-a-chuk

Never saw or fed silk worms so I'm guessing a little with out using the silk worm in mind as the prey item......Pregnant female may of had morning sickness(not just humans have it), may be a problem with parasites in her, maybe you should have not fed them before gut loading, If others that ate them did not up-chuck them we are most likely narrowing it down to the female......Will she hold down other prey?..If so her system just may not be able to handle them( to rich in ? maybe fat content, so stop feeding them to her)..if not....you may want to save a stool and up-chuck sample for a vet to check. Good luck. Take care. HJ

It could also possibly be just that she was excited about a new food item and over-ate. Occassionally leos will over eat and regurgitate (plus it was something she wasn't used to eating). I would keep an eye on her. If she does it again, you may want to consult the vet.

My mealworm eating female was so excited about roaches once that she swallowed 3 adult cinereas and she regurgitated after a while. But now everything is back to normal :) I think it is the same in your case.

Maybe she ate too much or not used to the new food item? I used to feed silkies to my leos once in a while, one of male always gets a diahrear after he'd eaten some silkworms...I no longer feed off silkies now, not because they're not good, but my leos' mama (me) gets really freaked out by the sticky silks...lol.

By the way, silkworms are a very good type of food, high in protein and calcium, but low in fat. Its great that your leos love them!
