So my female leopard gecko is a first time breeder as am I. I am also aware that first time breeders are often unsuccessful their first time. So my female was gravid and was about to lay an egg last night. I saw her trying to push it out and making a digging motion...But she was on a basking spot on top a solid, hard surface. Nothing happened but in the morning I went to the tank to check and she had passed the egg on the basking spot. The egg or whatever was left of it was white, but was flat on the bottom and was mushy and had liquid coming out of it. My questions are, is this what a normal first time breeders unsuccessful attempt at passing eggs looks like, and also why did she go to lay it on the basking spot when she is very comfortable and accustomed to going in her lay box, did she somehow now this wasn't a "good egg". Any comments from any one with this experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
