First time laying rant

I decided to post to blow off some steam. My female that has been holding onto eggs for nearly TWO MONTHS now finally laid one egg. She then went right ahead and crushed it because she decided to lay off the side of the lay box lol. This is her first time breeding to my knowledge so I know it is to be expected but BOY was I ever excited to get these eggs after waiting so long. Maybe she will get it right on this second one :)

Oh I know. I just knew that this was the right place to come to share my story of woe. She will get it right soon I hope :) Now for my SSTA to get down to business. I am eagerly awaiting her eggs. She appears to have a bit to go though.

Next breeding season they will have it all down pat and hopefully I will only have minor mishaps :)

That's ok. We all have our frustrations. We had a female that was obviously ovulating, but she was not breeding. We wanted her to breed because she was of weight and age, and had also gone on an ovulation hunger strike. Finally last night after several attempts she allowed the male to get near her.

See I faced that problem with this particular female. She would not allow the male near her whatsoever and gave him a few nasty bites to his head. Now they are inseparable and constantly are cuddled up together. The SSTA female and that male though were clearly frustrating each other and the male has been relocated a a separate tank.

awwwh im sorry :p

We have had good luck so far, so far all of our ladies get the hint they are supposed to lay in the moist hide, and bury their eggs well in the moss :)

We have had 2 occasions where they didn't though; once a gecko laid hers outside the hide and once we had one lay in a temporary hide we had set up. It was dark and we didn't think she was ready to lay, so they were in there for a few days and dried up :(

Still no second egg as of today. I have not handled her at all as I did not want to stress her out on the chance she may have had another egg inside. She may have only had one though. To my knowledge she has never been bred before so their is a good chance that was her first and only egg for this clutch. She is still a monster though :) She is as fat as fat can be. I gotta upload the photo of her I shot after she laid the first and post it here in a minute.

Well the second egg was finally laid today. Also on the ground and smashed. I tried to hussle and get to it before it was trampled but no such luck there. *UGH sigh*
