Hi, my name is Steph and I am doing an animal college course in college, the place where I fell in love. In love with leopard geckos. And now I have one of my own who appears to be a little baby as well as unsexed yet I have decided to call "it" Toothless. (It was originally going to be Moriarty).

I also have two redfooted tortoises called Rosie and Tobi and three dogs. One border terrier pup called Peanut and two cavachons called Alfie and Bella. (I know hell of a mix)
I look forward to reading through these forums to extend my knowledge on my gecko but first I have a couple of questions regarding Toothless.

Firstly, the place my mother got him from told my mother to feed him two locusts a day, however, the locusts they have given her are large hopper locusts which I believe to be too big, so we will probably get something different. My mother isnt keen on feeding crickets because of the noise and the fact that they will breed and she has some random fear of them infesting the house. I wanted to know if it was okay to feed the baby mealworms because there is a lot of conflicting information about it. I will be feeding him in the evening if this is okay so that he has something to do at night as I know they are nocturnal. Also is the amount right?

The only other concern I have is I noticed that the gecko has a funny face, I have a few pictures which are not very clear but it is very worrying me because the shape looks a bit odd, not like others and I am hoping so much that it is not some form of MBD D:D:D:. If anyone could just give some comments on what to do, whether they think its fine etc it would be really appreciated. I am a very paranoid owner and I am like this all the time with the slightest thing wrong I worry. Other than that I think he is beautiful, its just getting him used to being handled.

Here are a few pics for you guys! (I can get try and get more if needed, P.S for a moist hide is sphagnum moss okay or should I just use kitchen towel?)

He looks to be fine to me. Firstly, the is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding mealworms. They are cheap easy to keep and convenient. Just make sure to gut load them at least 24 hours to feeding and keep calicum powder in the enclosure. You can supplement with different feeders occasionally to change it up. Lastly, moss is just fine for your hide. Welcome to the forum!!

I moved this to the leopard gecko section so you should get more notice.

As long as you gutload the mealworms, they are fine for a staple and that is what many breeders feed. When they are young, I let them eat as much as they want. Make sure you use a vitamin powder and calcium supplement at least a couple times a week. If the gecko isn't eating much, make sure you check your temps and humidity.
