i had the carpet in there before, and i have read that slate is the best, but i did fill the cracks with sand which i read was an alright thing to do and i also put a little sand around the back side of the main warm hide so that he light would not get in, she is a on the older side juvenile, and i am feeding her mainly mealworms out of a dish every day, just mainly wondering if that amount of sand is save for she age and what else i could do to fill the cracks and light spaces in her hides thanks guys

I really don't know, because we are new to leopard gecko's. Your setup does look good, and I would think (but not sure) that in that small amount, it wouldn't be a problem as long as it's not calcium sand.

Maybe one of the experts here that have helped us will let us know.
